About Us
The Labour Standards team is responsible for administering the Labour Standards Code and related regulations, which set out the basic rights and responsibilities of provincially regulated employers and workers in Nova Scotia. The legislation also establishes a licensing and registration framework to protect foreign workers recruited for employment in Nova Scotia.

About Our Opportunity
You will report to the Director of Labour Standards and provide administrative support to the entire Labour Standards team.
You will work in a fast-paced office environment carrying out the day-to-day administrative functions with minimal direction. Relying on a high level of concentration, patience, and attention to detail, you will deal with a variety of activities and a significant volume of work, much of which involves confidential material and is time sensitive. Your work will be critical to the efficient and effective operations of the office.
Primary Accountabilities
In this role you will be responsible for a significant volume of data entry ensuring complaints and applications are accurately captured in our database in a timely manner.
You will be responsible for general administrative duties such as coordinating administrative activities, scheduling meetings, ordering supplies, processing invoices, running expenditure reports, maintaining filing systems, scanning documents and processing mail.
Qualifications and Experience
You have completed a one-year business course and have three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
You have advanced skills in MS Office Products, including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with Adobe Creative Cloud. You have excellent data entry, proofreading and grammatical skills. You are conscientious about and accurate with your work and have well developed prioritization, time management and organizational skills to effectively manage a high volume of competing tasks in a busy office environment.
You are a self-directed learner with excellent problem-solving skills. You take initiative to identify opportunities to improve the way things are done, and are resourceful, flexible, adaptable, and committed to providing timely, quality service to the public.
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and consistently maintain a respectful, professional, and courteous manner with colleagues and clients. You demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Assets for this position include:
- Familiarity with business structures and the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies
- Experience with records management

Pay Grade: CL 18
Salary Range: $1,675.62 – $1,874.80 Bi-Weekly
