Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position will be patient, friendly, caring, compassionate, with excellent communication skills. Caregiver will follow care instructions as outlined per client’s individualized care plan and perform a variety of tasks to provide care as necessary.
Job Description: Personal Support Worker (PSW): PSW is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of elders in our community and residents in LTC/Retirement Facilities, improving overall quality of life through practical skills and warmth of human connection.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE:
-2-3 hours Morning/Evening Shifts
-NIGHTS (11:00PM-7:00AM)
PSW JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures and promotes the provision of resident/client-focused care to address desired care needs
- Provides supervision and/or assistance to clients/residents in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, and bathing as per residents’ individual plans of care to meet their needs and expectations
- Provides care and services to clients/residents with respect to their senses and communication by encouraging residents to wear individual sensory aids such as glasses, hearing aides, etc.
- Provides cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support
- Provides oral and dental care
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidate must present with successful completion of a Personal Support Worker from an approved college or private institution meeting the standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, National Association of Career Colleges, as per established provincial requirements
- PSW must present with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents/clients, families, and visitors
- All applicants must provided a valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- PSW is expected to be up-to-date with all necessary knowledge and skills through growth and development of seminar and workshop involvement/attendance
- PSW must demonstrate working experience with the elderly in a health care setting, knowledgeable with respect to their care needs
- PSW must present with knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and related bedside care when necessary
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 25 per week
Salary: $16.63-$22.55 per hour
